Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, the upcoming hack and slash game from Platinum Games and Konami, will see a demo released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms next week, on January 22. In order to get the hype going until then, the two companies also posted a brand new gameplay video, showing a boss fight against Jack the Ripper.

After the popular Metal Gear Solid stealth titles, Konami is taking the series into a new direction and tasked Platinum Games with creating Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, a hack and slash experience that focuses on cyborg ninja Raiden and his awesome skills.

We already saw plenty of great gameplay footage, but fans will soon be able to try out the game as a demo for Revengeance has just received a concrete release date of January 22, according to the Platinum Games website.

The free trial will be available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms and, in order to get people interested in it, a brand new gameplay video has appeared, showing off Raiden as he faces off against a new boss called Jack the Ripper.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is out on February 19, in North America, and February 21 in Europe and the rest of the world.
