A special demo for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be released on December 13 for the PlayStation 3 in Japan, as Konami wants to give those interested in the hack and slash game a taste of its gameplay.

Metal Gear Solid games relied on stealth and tactics but the upcoming Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, however, is based on pure action and intense hack and slash gameplay, letting players control cyber-ninja Raiden, who wields an impressive sword that slices through almost everything.

Now, Konami has confirmed, via Siliconera, that a demo for Revengeance will be released for the PlayStation 3 via PSN in Japan on December 13.

The free trial includes a Virtual Reality mission in which Raiden needs to slice a watermelon, and a boss fight against a creature called the Bladewolf.

No word yet on when it might appear in the rest of the world or when it's going to debut for the Xbox 360, so expect to hear more about the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance demo soon enough.
