Gearbox Software has surprised every Borderlands 2 player out there by confirming that the much anticipated Mechromancer DLC will be released later today, October 9, a week earlier than planned.

Borderlands 2 impressed millions of gamers last month through its intense “shoot and loot” gameplay, emphasizing first-person shooting and loot collecting.

Developer Gearbox had already confirmed that the first DLC for the game would be a new playable class and started hyping up its release, which was scheduled to happen next week.

Now, Gearbox President Randy Pitchford has confirmed on his Twitter account that the Mechromancer will be released later today, October 9, across all platforms, meaning PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

According to Pitchford, the DLC should become available on all devices until the end of the day. Those who have pre-ordered Borderlands 2 and have got into the Premiere Club will receive the DLC for free, while those who haven’t will have to pay a $9.99/€9.99/800 Microsoft Points.
