BioWare, besides getting ready to roll out Mass Effect 3 onto full-fledged platforms like the PC, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, has just confirmed that two special apps based on the series will soon be released onto the iOS platform for the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

The Mass Effect series is set to end its trilogy that focuses on Commander Shepard next month, with the third game, but BioWare is keen on bringing the series onto all sorts of other platforms, such as Facebook.

Now, after the lackluster Mass Effect Galaxy that appeared on the iOS before the release of Mass Effect 2, the franchise is getting ready to receive two new apps for the mobile operating system, according to Kotaku.

First up, there’s a full-fledged game in the form of Mass Effect: Infiltrator, in which players help free prisoners from a hostile Cerberus base. Depending on their actions and how much evidence they collect against Cerberus, players will receive different rewards and increase their Galactic Readiness level in the full Mass Effect 3 game.

For those who just want to stay connected to ME3, BioWare will also launch a Mass Effect Datapad app, which keeps you informed with events from the full title and even allows you to receive messages from in-game characters.

You can expect some more details, as well as release dates for the two iOS apps soon.
