It looks like a mix of Baldur's Gate and The Banner Saga

A brand new title is about to make fans of tactical role-playing games really happy, Witching Hour Studios’ Masquerada: Songs and Shadows.

Granted, it’s still going to be a while until the game comes out, but judging by the looks of the announcement trailer, it’s going to be something somewhat similar to Stoic’s The Banner Saga, at least from an artistic standpoint.

The Banner Saga was one of 2013’s surprises, a great narrative-driven turn-based role-playing game, and Masquerada: Songs and Shadows seems to be trying to fill the niche for 2016.

The game is built in the vein of Baldur’s Gate, featuring real-time combat with the ability to pause and lay out plans and issue orders to your party members.

Masquerada: Songs and Shadows is set in the fictional city of Ombre, based on Venice, where masks allow wearers to cast powerful magical spells.

Its art style blends French comic books fashion with the vivid colors of games like Bastion and Transistor, and the narrative follows a horrific kidnapping investigation.

The game is headed to PC, Mac and consoles sometime in early 2016, and more information about it will be revealed next weekend at the PAX East expo. For the time being, there is no information on what consoles the game will be available on.
