Nintendo' popular racing title Mario Kart 8 will be getting DLC packs starting this November, with the company announcing that the first installments will contain The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing content.

The news comes from Nintendo's UK website, revealing that the two Nintendo universe-themed downloadable content packs will each come with two new cups of four races, four new karts, and three new characters for gamers to play as, increasing the track count by as much as 50 percent.

The first one, titled The Legend of Zelda X AoC Pack, will add Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Link to the list of available drivers, alongside a brand new Zelda-themed racing track and a couple of returning older ones, such as Wario's Gold Mine stage from Mario Kart Wii.

The second DLC add-on, titled Animal Crossing X AoC Pack, is scheduled to arrive sometime in May next year, adding the Animal Crossing Villager, Dry Bowser and Isabelle to the list of playable characters, bringing a brand new Animal Crossing-based stage, as well as a host of remade ones.

In addition to this, Nintendo is also releasing a pretty big update for its beloved Wii U racing game today, introducing a range of new features and three new Mercedes-Benz karts.
