A United States District Court has ruled for Robin Antonick, the developer who created the original incarnation of Madden NFL, in his lawsuit against publisher Electronic Arts that centers on unpaid royalties.

The jury says that the legal action that Antonick initiated is lawful and can proceed to a full trial, after EA tried to get it dismissed because a deadline for a suit had passed.

Rob Carey of Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, the lawyer for the developer, is quoted by VG247 as saying that, ”We are confident that we will be able to demonstrate that EA failed to live up to its agreement with Mr. Antonick and lied to him about the use of his protected work product in the games.”

Antonick believes that Electronic Arts owes him millions of dollars derived from the huge games that Madden NFL has seen since its inception.
