The player will have to deal with a 13-day time limit

Yoshinori Kitase, the producer working on Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, says that the new Japanese role-playing game will have some elements that are similar to those offered by From Software’s Dark Souls.

The developer is quoted by Kotaku as telling Famitsu that, “If I were to describe the gameplay, I would say there are some elements with the severity of Dark Souls.”

It’s unclear whether the new Final Fantasy XIII will offer an equal difficulty level, which might prove frustrating for some of the fans of the franchise.

It seems that the similarities are linked to the limited resources that players will have to use, the most important of which is time.

In Lightning Returns, players will have just 13 days in order to save the world from destruction and not all quests can be completed within that time frame.
