Riot Games confirms that it's taken the Refer-a-Friend program for League of Legends offline in order to implement an update to the system that should provide better and more exact rewards to those who get their friends inside the multiplayer title.

League of Legends has been around for quite some time and developer Riot Games has taken great care to ensure that its community is constantly growing, not just by answering fan demands but also by building a referral system called, what else, Refer-a-Friend.

Unfortunately, in recent times the system hasn't exactly worked as intended and Riot has decided to overhaul it for maximum efficiency and immediate rewards.

As such, the update should roll out quite soon, and in order to ensure a smooth rollout, Riot confirms on the website that the Refer-a-Friend program is going to be offline for the following days.

"We’ll be taking the current RAF program down for the transition. The downtime may last a few days, during which time we’ll transfer players to the new program, including handing out any new rewards earned as a result of previous referrals," the studio mentions.

Expect to hear more about the new and improved referral system in the following days, once it goes live inside the multiplayer title.
