Asian games dominate the list of most profitable online games

A report showcasing the most popular games with microtransactions in 2013 has just appeared online and Riot Games' League of Legends is the second best, with over $624 million (€460 million) in earnings, being overtaken just by South Korea's CrossFire.

Microtransactions are a part of gaming nowadays and a lot of games practice them to more or less success.

According to SuperData, in 2013 the most popular microtransaction-based game was CrossFire, an online shooter from South Korea, earning a whopping $957 million (€705 million) over the last 12 months.

It's followed by League of Legends, and by a variety of other titles, including Wargaming's World Of Tanks, Blizzard's World of Warcraft, or Valve's Team Fortress 2.

Bear in mind that these figures are only for microtransactions, so the likes of World of Warcraft have earned much more than that from subscriptions.
