The core mechanics of the game should not be changed

Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, says that he wants to see a remake of the original title in the series using the all-new Fox Engine.

He believes that his own studio lacks the time to do this and that a third-party company would be better suited to the project.

Speaking to GameReactor the developer says that most of the core game mechanics of the first Metal Gear Solid are still fine, although some of them will need to be updated in order to be appealing to modern players.

At the moment Kojima is working directly on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which is expected to launch next year on the PC, current-gen and next-gen consoles.

At the moment, little is known about the plot, but the game will have an open-world structure.
