The open nature of the game allows them to compare approaches

Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, says that the new open world structure of The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes is designed to encourage players to share their experiences with their friends.

He is quoted by Siliconera as saying that, “I believe that we’ll be able to make games with completely different feelings to them, or even a completely new game altogether. Even for our ‘core’ games, they can now have methods of communication. I think that’s their most exciting aspect, and I also believe that it will only grow from this point on.”

The coming Metal Gear Solid experience will also be more replayable and gamers will be encouraged to learn from one another and try out new strategies.

Ground Zeroes will be launched in March and will serve as a test bed for the new Fox Engine, while The Phantom Pain is scheduled for late in 2014.
