Hideo Kojima, the main developer working on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, says that he plans to include a torture scene in the game which will not allow the player to actually take part in the action shown on screen.

The game maker says that he does not want to simply include the shocking content in order to attract a wider audience to his game.

He tells Eurogamer that, “If the violence will give new emotions that are important to the game, I want to put it in there, especially with this game where one of the main topics is revenge. I don’t want to walk around that.”

His statement comes after some gamers criticized the way GTA V approached torture, forcing the player to take part in the process.

Metal Gear Solid V will be launched on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and current-gen consoles in 2014.
