The PlayStation 3 exclusive Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix has finally received an official release date, developer and publisher Square Enix revealing that the action role playing game compilation will become available on October 2 in Japan, on December 2 in North America and on December 5 in Europe.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix was announced last year in October, right after September’s release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, which went on to be a great commercial success for Square Enix.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix included the original Kingdom Hearts alongside Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and the upcoming video game collection will bring a high-defition remaster of the other titles in the Kingdom Hearts series, namely Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts: Recoded.

If you want to see how the enhanced version of Kingdom Hearts looks like on the PlayStation 3, have a look below. The gameplay video shows Sora, Goofy and Beast battling a fearsome monster called Dark Thorn, then proceeds to picture several other areas of the game, showcasing the improved graphics on the PlayStation 3.

Kingdom Hearts: Recoded will be included as cinematic sequences, and both Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix will come with trophy support.
