Kingdom Come: Deliverance will debut its backer-only alpha test on October 22, and developer Warhorse Studios has released a trailer showing why people should be excited for it.

Granted, the idyllic picture painted by the video might make medieval times seem like a great place to live in, what with everyone peacefully going around their business, living in harmony with nature and having a gay old time.

For the purposes of the alpha test, all the crony feudalism, disease and poverty are left out, and so is the rampant killing. There will be no combat in the alpha, but players will be able to visit a hamlet and its surroundings and even do a few simple quests.

In any case, the open-world role-playing game still has plenty of time to show the grislier aspects of medieval life, even without dragons raining fire from above.

Czech developer Warhorse Studios set out to accomplish a daring feat, which they humorously describe as "dungeons and no dragons," a single-player realistic medieval adventure inspired by life in Europe during the Middle Ages, complete with period-accurate melee and ranged combat.

In any case, until all the brutality rears its ugly head in Kingdom Come: Deliverance's world, it's going to be a beautiful and serene place.
