The entire market is in decline and shows no sign of recovery

The hardware market in Japan is in decline for the week, but the Nintendo-made 3DS continues to be the best-selling device, while a title for the PlayStation 3, Sengoku Basara 4, has managed to take the number one spot in the software chart.

The 3DS has moved 38,229 units to gamers, a drop of about 9,000 from the previous week, while second place has gone to the PlayStation Vita from Sony, which has declined to 23,290 in sales, according to Media Create data quoted by NeoGAF.

For the week that ended on January 26, the PlayStation 3 has managed to sell 13,360 devices, with the PS4 about one month from launch in Japan.

Sengoku Basara 4 is a new entry in the Japanese chart, with overall sales of 176,313 units.

The rest of the top ten includes: Kirby Triple Deluxe, PazuDora Z: Puzzle & Dragons Z, Saints Row IV, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z on Vita, Yo-kai Watch, Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Mankind, Pokemon X / Y and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
