The 3DS continues to lead the Japanese hardware chart with sales of 44,229 units for the week that ended on January 18, which represents a decline for the device when compared to the previous week of the year and the same period in 2014.

The Nintendo handheld continues to perform well despite the fact that there are no major software launches at the moment and it will soon deliver its most recent incarnation, the New Nintendo 3DS, on the United States market.

The PlayStation Vita from Sony has moved 17,505 units to its own fans during the same period, again a drop when compared to other periods, and is followed by the PlayStation 4 home console, which managed to sell a respectable 15,480.

The Wii U from Nintendo is once again under the 10,000 mark, but it does stay ahead of the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox One, according to Media Create data quoted by NeoGAF.

When it comes to video game sales, the picture is a familiar one, with the top ten led by Yo-kai Watch 2: Shin Uchi from Level 5 for the 3DS, which delivered 50,244 copies to players.

The rest of the chart is made up of: Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Kenka Bancho 6: Soul & Blood, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Yo-kai Watch 2: Ganso / Honke, Mario Kart 8, Gundam Breaker 2, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
