We should be getting accustomed to the fact that the 3DS is the perennial leader in terms of hardware sales in Japan and that video games associated with it, like Yo-kai Watch 2: Shin Uchi, are leading software charts.

The Nintendo handheld has managed to shift 196,351 units to gamers for the week that ended on December 21, which is a solid number and an increase when compared to the previous week but not enough to match the same period of 2013.

The Wii U has seen an increase in its own figures in order to reach second place, with overall sales of 38,314, and has defeated the Vita, which has posted its own improved numbers.

The PlayStation 4 has seen a negative trend and has dropped to 33,797 for the week, according to Media Create numbers from NeoGAF, coming from 68,014 last week.

The Xbox One is still under 1,000 units sold.

The new Yo-Kai Watch has managed to move more than 500,000 copies to players in one week and is followed by Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in second place and by Final Fantasy Explorers.

The rest of the top ten includes: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Gundam Breaker 2 for PS3, Gundam Breaker 2 for Vita, Yo-kai Watch 2: Ganso / Honke, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and Mario Kart 8.
