Wii U is in second ahead of the Vita and PS4

E3 2015 might be attracting all the attention of the gaming world these days, but sales in Japan are a good way to see how hardware evolves in the long term, and this week the 3DS managed to return to its position at the top of the hardware sales chart.

The Nintendo handheld has received a solid boost and has managed to move 25,770 units to gamers in one week, which is a growth of about 10,000 when compared to the previous week, according to Media Create data gathered by NeoGAF.

The Wii U has dropped a couple hundred units during the same period and is now in second place with sales of 16,740, which constitutes a solid boost when compared to the same period of last year.

The last place on the podium belongs to the PlayStation Vita handheld, with overall sales of 11,022, just ahead of the PlayStation 4 home console, which stands at 10,117.

The PS3 is at the moment ahead of the Xbox One, which has reached a new low of 118 units per week.

Rhythm Heaven: The Best+ for the 3DS is the best-selling video game for the seven-day period, with 157,591 copies delivered to fans, followed by Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butouden from Bandai Namco Games.

The rest of the software top ten includes: Splatoon, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Evolution, Mario Kart 8, Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Alien: Isolation, Shiren the Wanderer 5 Plus: Fortune Tower and the Dice of Fate, and Style Savvy 3: Kira Kira Code.
