Gamers can get refunds for their bought packs

Video game developer Turbine and publisher Warner Bros. are announcing that they will be shutting down their Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title Infinite Crisis on August 15 of this year.

Until then, the title will be entirely free for all those who want to experience its core mechanics.

The two companies are offering refunds for all the players who have bought The Starter Pack or The Elite Pack to improve their experience with Infinite Crisis.

The official announcement states, "This was an extremely difficult decision to make. On behalf of the entire Infinite Crisis team we want to thank all of you for your feedback, support and for joining together to create one of the best communities in gaming."

The DC Comics-powered MOBA entered open beta stage in 2014 and was officially launched on March 26 of this year.

Neither Turbine nor Warner Bros. is saying why they are choosing to shut Infinite Crisis down altogether rather than try to find a new way of presenting it to gamers.

The MOBA was never able to compete directly with the biggest titles in the genre, DOTA 2 from Valve and League of Legends from Riot Games, and it's entirely possible that the revenue has declined so much that it no longer covers operational costs.
