The mixed martial arts game aims to deliver an accurate representation of the sport

What we know:

EA Sports UFC is a mixed martial arts video game currently in development at Electronic Arts, based on the Ultimate Fighting Championship brand.

Gamers will be able to choose from more than 100 different fighters, some of the roster being already spoiled by on the EA Sports UFC website.

Some of the latest fighters added to the game are Costas Philippou, Forrest Griffin, and Chang Sung Jung, along with a few others.

More prominent figures include Chael Sonnen, Jon Jones, UFC and Pride heavyweight belts winner Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, and UFC Championship winner Rashad Evans.

EA Sports UFC will be the first release under EA's new licensing agreement. It will be the reboot of EA's mixed martial arts series, and one of the first games to run on the company's new Ignite engine.

Why it matters:

The game will feature and improved artificial intelligence system that will adapt to mid-game changes in strategy, in order to provide a more realistic fighting experience.

EA Sports UFC will also have an implementation of full-body deformation, and the new engine will deliver the best yet simulation of the most important aspects of the mixed martial arts world.

EA aims to proficiently simulate all the moves in the fighters’ arsenal, including the effects on the adversary’s body, capturing the fluidity and intensity of the sport.

EA Sports UFC is scheduled to land this spring on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
