What we know:
Fuse is the upcoming shooter from developer Insomniac Games, which is set to be published by Electronic Arts on the PlayStation 3 and, for the first time in the studio’s history, on the Xbox 360.
Fuse was originally announced under another name, Overstrike, after the name of the team the four protagonists belong to, and was supposed to have a more lighthearted tone with stylized visuals.
During the development, however, Insomniac decided to completely rework the whole project and call it Fuse. The game became a bit more realistic, even if it has a sci-fi plot that deals with a mysterious aliens substance known as Fuse, which gives the weapons and gadgets of the protagonists special powers.
The game focuses on four different characters, starting with Dalton Brooks, who uses a special energy shield, to Naya Deveraux, who can cloak herself, Isabelle Sinclair, who wields a bubble gun, and Jacob Kimble, who has a special crossbow.
The four characters are part of the Overstrike team and must investigate a special alien substance known only as Fuse. As you can imagine, things don't go according to plan and the team must face off against all sorts of enemies while handling their upgraded weapons.
The game has a cooperative focus and players will have to work together if they want to survive the challenges coming their way.
Why it matters:
Insomniac has proved time and time again with franchises like Resistance or Ratchet & Clank that it's a talented developer, so it's going to be interesting to see what it can achieve with Fuse.
What's more, the game will be the first one from the studio that can be enjoyed on the Xbox 360, as previous Insomniac titles only came out for the PS3.
Fuse is out for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in March this year.
