The high costs of setting up the different devices make it unappealing

Microsoft's special Illumiroom technology that was showcased at various conventions in the last year won't make its debut on the Xbox One, as apparently the big costs associated with creating the setup make it unappealing to the average consumer.

Microsoft impressed quite a few participants at CES 2013 or other such conventions at the beginning of the year when it presented the Illumiroom concept, which used a projector and the Kinect to display images from a game as it's being played, on the background behind the TV.

The tech was quite impressive and made a lot of people wonder if it was going to make a debut alongside the Xbox One next-gen console this fall.

That is unlikely, according to Microsoft's Albert Penello, who said, via AusGamers, that the technology was a bit expensive to implement for the average consumer.

Apparently, Microsoft examined the costs and determined that the big price of projectors and other gear won't get many people to try it out.
