Developer Heart Machine announces that it is seeking support from fans for a video game project called Hyper Light Drifter, which will mix action and role-playing mechanics and will deliver a classic 2D experience.

The inspiration for the game comes from classic 8 and 16-bit experiences, but the developers are trying to modernize the main mechanics and create a much bigger and deeper game world.

The team states on its official Hyper Light Drifter Kickstarter page that, “It plays like the best parts of A Link to the Past and Diablo, evolved: lightning fast combat, more mobility, an array of tactical options, more numerous and intelligent enemies, and a larger world with a twisted past to do it all in.”

Gamers will be able to explore a dark, interconnected world, go on alternative paths and gather secret loot.

Hyper Light Drifter will be easy to pick up and play but hard to actually master.

Gamers have another 29 days to contribute to the game, which has already managed to get its initial crowd funding requirements.
