Making of Homeworld Remastered Collection episode three is out, detailing how Gearbox Software recreated the legendary real-time strategy game.

Homeworld came out in 1999 and it revolutionized the strategy genre through its numerous innovations, the most notable of which were taking the action to space and taking advantage of full unfettered three-dimensional movement.

The science fiction video game has been re-released now, with remastered visuals, compatible with modern high-resolution displays, and with recreated cutscenes.

The cinematics were one of the unique aspects of the original game, being styled in the fashion of hand-drawn black and white comics. The team at Gearbox spent a lot of time making sure that everything would look right, and the third making-of video, available below, sheds some light on their work.

In addition to talking about the remastered visuals, the developers also discuss the process of breathing fresh life into the game’s amazing soundtrack, and show some reactions from the original development team, when confronted with the improvements made on the 15-year old game.
