The team at Blizzard in charge of Heroes of the Storm is announcing that it will be running the first World Championship for the title over the coming months, with the finals set to take place during the BlizzCon event in the fall.

The prize pool for the competition is set at 1.2 million dollars (1.1 million Euro) and most of it will go to the winning team, which will be decided over two days, on November 6 and 7 in Anaheim, California.

Until then, Heroes of the Storm teams will have to go through regional qualifiers, which are detailed in the image attached to this blog.

Eight groups of players will attend the finals: two from Europe, two from the Americas, two from China, one from Taiwan, and one from South Korea.

At the moment, Heroes of the Storm is still in beta stage, but Blizzard plans to launch the full version of the game on June 2.

Given the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena core features of the title, the studio will continue to deliver updates for it all through the year, with plenty of them based on feedback coming from the fan base.

During the BlizzCon event, the company is also running big competitions for Hearthstone, Starcraft 2, and World of Warcraft.
