Developer Arrowhead has offered an update on how things are going with their upcoming PlayStation exclusive game Helldivers.

The game is a top-down twin stick shooter set in a satyrical dystopian world, that was initially announced in August 2013 at Gamescom.

Players will have to fight for the survival of mankind against three alien races in an unforgiving intergalactic conflict that will involve the whole community of players, with every victory and defeat impacting whether the war will be ultimately won or lost.

The newest post from the developers, featured on the PlayStation Blog, offers some details on the Cyborg Nation, a socio-feudal race of bionically augmented separatists that were once part of the Super Earth federation but have since declared their sovereignty and become enemies of mankind.

The devs also unveiled the frozen environment, presenting another tactical factor that players have to account for during their gaming sessions. Straying from rocky areas and venturing into the deep snow will cause squads' movement to be severely impaired.

Helldivers is currently in development for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, and will be completely cross-play compatible between Sony's platforms once it launches, later this year.
