The webpage of the Black Mesa Research Facility is suggesting that an important announcement about Half-Life is set to be made on May 5, with a countdown running over a background of static, colored bars and brief images showing the classic G-Man look.

The site is not officially associated with Valve, so gamers should not get their hopes up that the full third title they have been waiting to hear about for so long will be officially revealed.

It's much more probable that something related to Half-Life 2 and its mods will be announced, with most fans speculating that the Black Mesa mod will get a significant update.

The May 5 date is important for the mythology of the series because it represents the moment when Gordon Freeman became an employee of the Black Mesa Research Facility, which put him on a path to start his adventures.

The major Black Mesa mod has been set to get a Steam version for some time, but it is also possible that the development team working on it will announce that the Xen side of the game is not complete.

The fan community will get clear information on May 5.
