Valve has confirmed that it's released a beta update for Half-Life 2 that adds support for the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality peripheral, allowing owners of the game and the device to experience it in VR.

The Oculus Rift project has attracted lots of gamers, as evidenced by its Kickstarter success, and plenty of game developers, as highlighted by the increasing number of titles that have VR support.

After adding Rift compatibility in Team Fortress 2, Valve has now confirmed that an official beta update is available for Half-Life 2.

The support is still a little rough, according to Valve's Joe Ludwig, as there are issues with the zoom UI or the heads-up display, but things will be improved soon.

Oculus Rift owners who want to experience Half-Life 2 in VR can check out the official thread on the peripheral's forums.
