Massive attacks have taken offline a variety of games and services

A new hacker group called DERP has just taken down a variety of gaming targets, from Blizzard's Battle.net online services, to the Electronic Arts website, the World of Tanks one, or League of Legends in massive DDoS attacks apparently aimed at a single user.

DDoS attacks are rather frequent but they usually don't have that big of an effect against big online services such as Battle.net or games like League of Legends.

This time, however, it seems that a new hacker group called DERP has resorted to some big DDoS attacks against all sorts of different targets, apparently just to mess with a player called PhantomLord.

The conflict escalated beyond hacker attacks, as the police and SWAT were sent to the house of PhantomLord as he was reported to the police as having hostages.

Meanwhile, DERP revealed on Twitter that it was forced to flee a Starbucks cafe after the police showed up.

Even so, it's continuing the attacks for now.
