The MMORPG is entirely devoid of traditional raid content, in an attempt to replace grinding with exploration

Guild Wars 2, ArenaNet's massively multiplayer online role-playing game, currently has no end-game raids, but that is apparently about to change.

The developer unleashed a flurry of new job openings, one of which reveals that the company is looking for a game designer with raid content creation experience. This is yet another clue in the big puzzle related to whether ArenaNet intends to add raid content to the Guild Wars 2 experience.

This newest development, specifically mentioning raid content, seems to suggest that raids are at least somewhere on the drawing board, among the developers' plans for the future of its MMORPG. However, there have also been several other mentions of this on the game's forums, and coming from members of the dev team too.

The new job listing for "Game Designer: Raid Content" demands the usual industry-standard experience, but also adds something very specific as a requirement.

"Previous game development experience creating the following: large scale bosses and encounters, repeatable group content for a live game, large scale rewards systems, combat systems for multiple players," the listing reads.

This, in addition to several mentions of raid content from Studio Design Director Chris Whiteside, point to Guild Wars 2 getting raids sometime in the future. Unfortunately, it's about two years too late.
