The veteran development team at Petroglyph announces that it is working with Grey Box to create and launch a new real-time strategy title called Grey Goo, which is designed to mix classic core mechanics of the genre with new tech and ideas.

The studio says that the new universe it is using will include three factions, Humans, the Beta and the Goo, each with its unique play style and epic units.

Grey Goo will deliver both an immersive single-player campaign and multiplayer modes, both of which focus on solid tactical thinking on the part of the player.

The title is set to include base building, unit management and massive battles, but it will not include any of the tedium of older titles in the genre.

Grey Goo will also have an artificial intelligence system based on work done at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the developers are promising that the game will be infinitely replayable.

Ted Morris, an executive producer at Petroglyph, explains that, “Grey Goo is an experience informed by the collective history of the RTS genre, infused with innovative ideas and a forward-thinking spirit that accomplish something original by incorporating new amalgams for the genre.”

Grey Goo will be offered on the PC in the fall of this year.
