Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, has begun taking down scam websites that promise gamers beta codes for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V, the next installment in the series that's set to appear in September.

GTA V is eagerly awaited by millions of gamers from around the world as developer Rockstar promises to deliver a top-notch open world experience.

Sadly, shady individuals have decided to take advantage of gullible GTA fans and launched websites that promised visitors entry codes into a future Grand Theft Auto 5 beta stage.

As you can imagine, the actual codes were never offered even if visitors shared the scam with others or downloaded special programs to enter the test stage.

Fortunately, Take-Two has started issuing formal complaints, according to CVG, and the websites are being taken down before they trick any other unsuspecting GTA fans.
