Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series and users of Facebook have been treated with some peculiar ads in the last few days. These show off a special application called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Multiplayer that promises to deliver an online experience based on Rockstar’s older open-world title.

Obviously, this is a scam and modders behind the actual multiplayer add-on for the game are now warning Facebook users to avoid the app.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas came out many years ago and, despite the fact that a multiplayer mode wasn’t included in the game, enterprising modders quickly made a special add-on that allowed people to play the game together.

Now, it seems that some individuals have made a “breakthrough” and posted a special application on Facebook, called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Multiplayer.

Even if it promises to deliver the full-fledged online mode right through a browser window, the app is a fake and the actual modders are warning gamers to avoid it.

According to GFI, even if you do attempt to install the app and access it, nothing happens, as it presents would-be players with a constantly looped animation.
