The development team at Polyphony Digital, publisher Sony, and the video game-focused arm of the Red Bull organization announce that an upcoming update for Gran Turismo 6 on the PlayStation 3 will allow gamers to race on the Formula One track of Spielberg, which is better known as the Red Bull Ring.

The official announcement shows off some images taken from the track, revealing the kinds of vehicles that are best suited for it.

The Red Bull Ring was first built in 1969 to serve as the official racing track of the Austrian state and hosted Formula One races for more than 20 years.

Both the Red Bull X2014 and KTM X-Bow are mentioned in the Red Bull announcement as having a particular connection with the circuit.

It’s unclear whether the Gran Turismo 6 update will be entirely free or whether gamers will have to pay in order to get access to the new content.

Polyphony Digital has pledged to offer long-term support for the racing title, which was launched late last year on the PlayStation 3.

The studio has also suggested that it is already working on a PlayStation 4 installment in the series but that it might take time to launch it because it wants to deliver a high-quality experience for long-time fans.
