The number is rather low given the profile of the series

The analyst firm Cowen & Company estimates that Gran Turismo 6, the biggest video game launched in December 2013, managed to sell over 300,000 copies on the United States market during the month.

GT 6 was developed by Polyphony Digital, published by Sony and arrived exclusively on the PlayStation 3.

The numbers are a little worrying given the high profile of the racing game, but the analyst firm is quoted by VG247 as explaining that many gamers have not purchased any new titles because they lacked the necessary resources.

The PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One were both launched in November on the United States market.

Cowen & Company believes that the NPD Group numbers for December 2013 will show a decline and the company is worried that the launch of the next-gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony has a smaller than expected impact on the overall industry.
