Gran Turismo 5 will be on the receiving end of a major update, called Spec 2.0, as the game's creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, confirmed that the patch, alongside some downloadable content, will arrive in October.

Gran Turismo 5 was finally released at the end of last year, after PlayStation 3 fans waited for quite a long time to see just how the racing game would demonstrate the power of the Sony console. The game was quite impressive, but, aside from quite a few patches and updates, not a lot has been heard since then.

The creator of the Gran Turismo series, Kazunori Yamauchi from Polyphony Digital, has now confirmed that owners of the game will be on the receiving end of a major update, called Spec 2.0.

"GT fans, thanks for waiting," Yamauchi revealed on his Twitter account. "The GT5 Spec 2.0 update is coming the 3rd week of October, with DLC following a week later."

Gran Turismo 5 is still available for purchase, exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
