The teams are now competing with each other rather than AAA releases

Steve Gaynor, one of the creators of indie hit Gone Home, says that the market for titles that are created independently of big companies is more competitive than ever and might lead to long term problems for the teams working on then.

PCGamesN quotes the Fullbright Company developer as saying during the 2014 DICE Summit in Las Vegas that, “When the first wave came out all they had to worry about was AAA.”

After the success of titles like Minecraft or Gone Home he believes that, “Now indies are much more in competition with each other.”

At the same time small games have a much larger potential audience after Sony and Microsoft both announced extensive support programs for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

The Fullbright Company has not yet revealed what new game it is working on at the moment but it will probably once more focused on interesting narratives.
