The team lacked the time and the resources to fix the game

An anonymous forum user claiming to be a developer with inside knowledge of the process that led to the launch of Aliens: Colonial Marines claims that Gearbox abandoned the game in order to focus on the creation and launch of Borderlands 2.

The source states on Reddit that the development process for Aliens was arranged so that “most of the developers at GBX could continue working on Borderlands 2, while a small group of LDs, coders and designers dealt with Pecan.”

TimeGame was in charge of the single-player and cooperative content for the SEGA-published title.

When the Randy Pitchford led team turned its attention to Colonial Marines, the problems of the game were apparent, but the team did not have the time it needed to fix all of them before launch.
