Developer Arrowhead Game Studios apparently has some surprises in store for fans of the somewhat recently released reboot of the classic arcade dungeon crawler Gauntlet.

The four-player cooperative action game was pretty good and it banked on the studio's penchant for creating such titles, but somehow the initial charm of the classic was lost somewhere in translation.

Fortunately, the developers have not forgotten the fan base, in spite of the silence witnessed by recent months. A big, free content update is making its way to Gauntlet, aiming to fix some of the more bitter points of the experience.

"In truth, we were never fully satisfied with how Gauntlet turned out. So, rather than just fixing little things here and there, we have been working on the core of the game to turn it into what we originally envisioned," Game Director Emil Englund writes on the developer's blog.

The upcoming free content update will include improvements to the Campaign and Colosseum, as well as a brand new game mode.

Furthermore, the game's community will be handled by the Arrowhead team from now on, so if you want to share your opinion on anything related to Gauntlet, you can do so on the Steam forums.
