Nintendo has announced an interesting and attractive promotion that will allow some gamers to net a free copy of Pokemon X or Y, during the month of March.

People who register a Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL or Nintendo 2DS system during March, as well as one of six select Nintendo 3DS games via Club Nintendo, will receive a code for the free download of either Pokemon X or Pokemon Y.

The six 3Ds games involved in the promotion are Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins and the upcoming Yoshi's Island.

Both the system and the game have to be registered between March 1 and March 31 in order to take advantage of the offer, and the download codes for Pokemon X or Pokemon Y must be redeemed by May 31, 2014.

Needless to say, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are among the best games available for the 3DS, and were unsurprisingly the best-selling Nintendo 3DS games of 2013. This would be the perfect opportunity to acquire them and see the host of new features they bring, if you haven't already.

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y are currently available on the Nintendo eShop, going for $40 / €30 each, and additional information on the twin titles can be found on the official Pokemon website.
