June's first free title in the Games with Gold promotion for Xbox 360 has just been rolled out onto the Xbox Live marketplace, in the form of Dark Souls 1, which can be downloaded for free by Gold subscribers until June 15.

Starting this month, Microsoft is making some big changes to the Games with Gold program, finally bringing free games to the Xbox One platform, while offering a third one as an anniversary gift for Xbox 360 users.

Now, the first free game for the Xbox 360 platform has just been made available on the Xbox Live marketplace, in the form of Dark Souls 1.

Until June 15, all Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download it at no charge. They'll be able to play it indefinitely, even if their gold membership expires.

On June 16, Charlie Murder and the special Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition will be available for free on Xbox 360.

During this month, Xbox One users will be able to get Halo: Spartan Assault and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood for free, but Microsoft hasn't revealed when they'll actually be available on the Xbox Live service.

Expect that announcement to be made next week, at Microsoft's E3 2014 press conference on June 9.
