The development team at Harmonix announces that the final piece of downloadable content for its music title Rock Band will be American Pie from Don McLean, with the final song and an update set to be launched on April 2.

The launch date was confirmed during PAX East by the developers, quoted by Polygon.

They announced a few weeks ago that they were pulling support from Rock Band in order to use the resources, mainly developers, to create new video games.

The music simulation game has received DLC for more than 275 consecutive weeks, with more than 4,000 songs offered to the player base.

Rumors claim that at the moment, Harmonix is working on a new Dance Central video game that will be launched on next-generation home consoles at some point during 2014.
