Square Enix intends to reward its loyal fans by hosting a series of player-focused festivals for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn all around the world, taking place this fall.

The festivals will include staged events, together with appearances by special guests and tons of other activities. The North American Fan Festival will be held in October in Las Vegas, with similar events scheduled to take place in London and Tokyo.

Earlier this month, the Japanese company announced the total number of registered users for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to exceed 2 million worldwide, just after the release of the game on the PlayStation 4 home entertainment system from Sony.

The game is also available on PC and PlayStation 3, and PS3 owners that want to transition to the PlayStation 4 edition can do so for free. If you don't know how, just read our guide to upgrading Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to PS4.

During last month's Game Developers Convention, the game's director, Naoki Yoshida explained why Final Fantasy XIV failed initially, and then how the development efforts were directed on the right path and managed to turn the game around from the disastrous release, a considerable achievement in the MMO world.

Square Enix will reveal more specific information about the upcoming festivals in June.
