Square Enix has unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming Patch 2.2, titled Through the Maelstrom, for its massively multiplayer online role-playing game Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

The upcoming patch introduces loads of new content, and the accompanying video shows some of the new environments players will battle in, as well as some of the new enemies they will have to face and some of the new activities they will be able to enjoy in-game.

Square Enix allows players to take a peek at the brand new dungeons, like the Lost City of Amdapor and new Hard Mode dungeons, including the lurid Halatali and the Illuminati overrun Brayflox's Longstop.

High level players can feast their eyes on the Second Binding Coil of Bahamut raid, which will introduce the highest level of difficulty seen in the game yet, which will truly prove to be a challenge for even the most veteran gamers.

Players interested in getting their hands on additional information regarding Patch 2.2 Through the Maelstrom can visit the official Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn website, where a wealth of information resides.

The patch will be released later this month for the PC and PlayStation 3 versions of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
