Bad news for Final Fantasy fans who purchased the latest game in the series, as Sony has just announced it would issue refunds for some of those who acquired the game on August 27 or 28.

According to the official statement: “all customers that purchased the digital version of the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Standard Edition, or Collector’s Edition, from PlayStation Network on 27th or 28th August will receive a full refund and will be able to find the funds in their wallet as soon as this is processed.

“In addition, the entitlements of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Standard Edition or Collector’s Edition will be reset and the title will appear again in the download list.”

Those who will get their money refunded will not be able to repurchase the game, as Square Enix has chosen to temporarily halt sales of the digital download of the game due to unprecedented demand.
