The development team at Square Enix working on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn announces that the MMO is at the moment down for maintenance so that the major patch 2.3 can be implemented. The patch is designed to add new content to the title and enhance the overall game experience.

The company says that the title should be back up and running by 11 AM Greenwich Mean Time, but it also mentions that it might need to prolong the period in order to make sure that all the new features have been correctly implemented.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn itself is not available, and the World Transfer Service has also been suspended 15 minutes before the maintenance has started and might be unavailable for a while longer.

Square Enix adds, “At the following time, to accompany the implementation of patch 2.3, we will be performing maintenance on Lodestone to update the Lodestone data and system. During this period, players will not be able to log into Lodestone or the iOS/Android app Libra Eorzea.”

This maintenance period will last from 11 to 16 GMT.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has managed to attract a wide number of players, and Square Enix has told the community that it has plans to update the MMO in the long term, with a focus on implementing changes that the fan base is requesting.
