The MMO will introduce new mechanics and new areas

The development team at Square Enix says that it plans to launch the beta stage for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on February 25, allowing gamers to play the upcoming MMO in North America, Japan and a number of European countries.

Initiall,y players will be confined to areas around Gridania where a limited number of main storyline events will be available alongside some side quests.

One instanced dungeon will also be included in the beta of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and gamers will also be able to test the Active Time Events system, which allows players to join emerging gameplay in the MMO.

The Guildhest mechanics will be available for testing as well and Square Enix might expand the content offered in the beta at a later date.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be launched later during 2013 and interested players can sign up on the official site.
