The development team at Square Enix working on Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn announces that it is actively working on patch 2.2 for the MMO, which will bring a number of changes to game mechanics, while also introducing Leviathan in new playable content.

VG247 quotes the company as explaining that the Blinding Coil of Bahamut will be enhanced and that gamers will be able to enjoy new quests, use more items and craft using innovative recipes, all linked to the water elemental.

The team says that the word that best describes patch 2.2 for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is Maelstrom.

Square Enix has not announced the launch windows for the new update, but a full rundown of the additional content is expected towards the middle of January.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is designed to eliminate all problems with the original version of the MMO.
