Brian Fargo, the leader of the development team at InXile, says that the relatively high price of the upcoming Wasteland 2 on the Early Access service from Steam is designed to show the respect that the team has for those who have backed the game via Kickstarter.

The developer tells Eurogamer that he might return to the crowdfunding service in the future and wants to make sure that his fans are ready to contribute again without feeling that they might be treated unfairly later on.

Those who want to pick up Wasteland 2 on Steam Early Access can now do so for 34.99 dollars or Euro, while those who used Kickstarter to back the title have paid 55.

Despite the price, the game has seen solid sales.

Fargo explains, “Not a lot of people typically sign up for Early Access for a single-player game, that I’ve seen, and for that price. Most people are content on waiting. Most of the comments are, we can’t wait to see it when it finally comes out.”
